The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar

Well…considering the location and price point I was expecting a more refined taste. Very average experience, I can get the same level of quality from cheaper local restaurants.

The Miss Moffitt roll was likely the best sushi roll I’ve had in Charlotte. It was a perfect blend of sweet sauce, the slightest hint of spicy from the tuna, and the avocado just blended it all together.I also ordered the All American Burgooshi Roll, which is a solid staple for the concept of this restaurant.I’ve had several burgers over the years and none have fallen short of spectacular. This truly is one of the best restaurants in the city.

This is just a great spot for drinks dining what have you. Parking is extremely limited please be prepared to walk. The sushi is out of this world, the burgers are the best I’ve had in Charlotte. Service is phenomenal, they manage to make it cozy and laid back in such a wonderful way.

OK Let me Start by saying the service was good. The patio was nice and quiet. Our Appetizers were phenomenal I recommed the truffle fries the Brussels were good as well my only issue and this is a big one is the BURGER was the BIGGEST let down! It was dry and flavorless! (Had the truffle one i tasted no truffle and had to ask for garlic mayo AND drown it in ketchup i usually do no to light sauce so i can tast the meat) picked here because I heard this was one of the top BURGER places in Charlotte. As some one who eats beef ONCE every few months because it's not a healthy choice I was so upset! But because everything else was good I just chose to swallow it and wait another couple months. Oh well.

I'll tell you what this place was phenomenal! And that's a big word! I had the blackened tuna nachos for an appetizer and a jalapeño burger for my dinner. Nefew had sushi. Top three burgers I've ever had! Sushi was fresh and delicious. And i highly recommend the blackened tuna nachos!! I will go back! And i dove an hour just to get there!

I love the many selections and we don't eat sushi but it's the perfect spot for people who do to eat with friends who don't. They have something for everybody.

What a fantastic place to visit! If you love sushi, this is a great place to visit! If you love burgers, it is an equally awesome place to grab a meal! If you have a picky family that can't make up it's mind, you've found your golden ticket! The sushi is top notch and served well, the burgers are every ounce of that delicious fried gold you remember from your earlier years. The combination is actually a ton of fun - and there are some amazing desserts and treats to look over! Absolutely give this one a shot!

One of the few places where you can have a sushi roll appetizer before ordering one of the best burgers in town. I had the bison burger and it was phenomenal. Now I have to go back to try the lamb burger as well! And the milkshakes are delicious!

Our server Jamal was great. The staff that we encountered smiled at us and were pleasant.The plates that were set at our table were super dirty so we didn't use them. A staff member noticed and took it. The water bottle they bring to the table had food debri/particles/bacteria plastered to the interior. It's a shame I drank some of it before I noticed. I would suggest paying attention to that if you order water. I ordered a Dr pepper instead.We ordered the truffle bacon fries and they were delicious. We also ordered the calamari and it was inedible. I couldn't chew it up and had to spit it out and ask for different appetizer. They replaced it with the crab dip but it arrived much later than the entrees so we asked them to give it to someone else. They removed it from the bill.One of the burgers came out incorrect but they promptly fixed it. The Texas longhorn burger I ordered was perfection. I also ordered the spicy crispy roll and it was good. Overall it was a fine experience but I will not return because of the sanitation.

Fun place to go for excellent burgers and sushi. The Burgashi is a great concept and you can’t go wrong with anything in their huge menu. The cookies and cream milkshake is handsoun and delicious. I would of given 5 stars, if one could make reservations ahead of time.

In my opinion this place's aesthetic appeal gives you the illusion that the food is equally as fantastic, when truly I feel it's only ok. Everything looks pretty but I wasn't over the moon about their food. Something was lacking. I will say it was nice to sit on the patio and the service was good. This was my second time visiting the restaurant and a 2nd chance for lack of a better term, because I went with someone else who wanted to try it out for the 1st time, but I probably won't be back, anytime soon.

A bit over priced and mediocre at best. The burger meat needed seasoning and I have had a better spicy tuna roll from Harris teeter. I could have went to Big Burger Spot for half the price and double the flavor.

Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Their food is always on point. This place is always slammed on weekends as well but service is always fantastic. They have some of the best specialty rolls around, and their burgers are also great. Last night we had the firecracker roll and Doug's filet roll and they both were amazing. The chicken lollipops have great texture, with the right amount of crunch on the outside. The sauce is a bit sweet but still tasty. Will continue to go back.

Interesting experience, I think the burgers are the star here and then they just also happen to serve sushi. Probably need to explore that side more, but the burger side was definitely impressive.I did the bento box, which was cool, but if I was doing it over I would just split a burger and a roll with someone. Or have leftovers. The local yokel was the mini burger for today, which was very well put together, but I’d probably go for something different next time. High quality beef and good ingredients, so I think the burger will be good regardless of your order or taste.Actually I was really impressed with the Turkey burger someone let me try. It was super juicy, had huge chunks of Brie on it and was overall just an awesome experience.Tried the Marks roll and a double salmon roll which were both good, I would like to try some of there signature rolls.New fashion is everything I hoped it would be, and they use a single large ice cube as it should be.Oh yeah and we got some shakes to go. Wish the straws were a little bigger, but the lemon meringue was excellent and everybody else was super pleased as well.Overall lived up to the hype, I’d come back.

We’ve tried Cowfish on multiple occasions for both lunch and dinner….and we’ve had great experiences each time. Please note that the wait can be super long at all times (like Cheesecake Factory). That said, download their Cowfish app and jump in line for a table.The burgers and sandwiches are always good and in my opinion the best side of the menu. Our favorites are the Salmon BLT (medium), Caprichio del Gallo, Boursin Bacon Burger and Local Yokal. The sushi side of the menu is big with solid appetizers and a bunch of standard and signature maki. The Yellowtail and Spicy Poke Dip appetizers are very good. Most of the rolls we’ve tried, like Fiery Dragon and Mrs. Woodbury’s, aren’t mind blowing but they are good and the fish is fresh.The service is great. The drinks and food come out quickly and the servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Parking is relatively easy in the SP Mall lots. Remember to use the app to sign in and maximize your time.

I went to cowfish yesterday with a few friends and our waiter Shy was so sweet. We all got milkshakes at the end and I accidentally hit mine and it went everywhere and shattered on the floor. She was so sweet about it and cleaned it and the parts that got on me and then the management gave me a new one. Definitely didn’t deserve that so thank you!! Then I forgot my sushi that I put in a container on the table so she came out and found me to let me know. 10/10 experience thank you so much!!

They are shrimp tempura was really good. Their cocktail that I ordered was OK. The burger that I tried was tasty as well. The atmosphere was nice. I can’t say that I will come back though. I liked the food, but I didn’t love it.

I absolutely have to leave a review for this restaurant because I recently had the most amazing customer service experience in my lifetime. I dine here often and every time I eat here the waitstaff manager comes by to check in and make sure everything tastes good, food came out on time, etc.On my last visit, my party of 4 was seated on the patio and our server wasn’t able to take our drink order right away. After about 10/15 minutes, someone in my party mentioned to another server that our drink order hadn’t been taken yet and the service manager immediately came over to apologize. Once our server got our drink and appetizer orders, the service manager informed us that we wouldn’t be charged for our appetizers because of the wait we had for drink orders. Mind you, we were dining at 6:30 pm on a Friday night so the restaurant was busy. To be totally honest I myself hadn’t even noticed our drink order hadn’t been taken and I insisted that it wasn’t a big deal. Regardless, our appetizers were taken care of and we had a fantastic experience the rest of the night. The next day I received a call from the GM who wanted to follow up about the issue and she wanted to make sure we had been taken care of. She took time out of her day to call me to go over what happened and offered to do whatever she could to apologize for the delay in getting our drinks. Again, the whole issue has been resolved and since we were eating on a busy night we all completely understood the wait. Even so, the fact that they reached out to make the situation right was just an incredible show of customer service. I am just totally astounded by how quickly they swooped in to make sure everything was alright and that we as customers were taken care of.I would be leaving 5 stars for the food alone, but due to the customer service experience I had last weekend, I would give this place a million stars if I could. Cowfish, we love you. We’ll be back soon!!

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in Charlotte. Burgers aren’t bad either. Placing an order over the phone is impossible and there’s a chance they’ll get it wrong, but can’t complain about the food.

First time visiting here and let me tell you. IT WAS WORTH IT! We were seated quickly, even though it was busy.The crab dip appetizer was DELICIOUS and the sushi was amazing. Absolutely delicious. The sushi is very very filling . Large pieces. I got the soft shell crab sushi and it did not disappoint. My son got a burger that was so thick he couldn't finish it. ( which is unusual) he had the fried pickles as a side and I have the parmesan fries which were very good! My boyfriend had a burger as well, but the bacon was undercooked- very chewy. Over all it was a great experience. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.I WILL BE BACK!!

Right before going to the airport to catch my flight home it was suggested we eat lunch at the Cowfish. Just by the name I was interested. We decided to eat outside. While walking to our table the artwork/ pictures on the walls were awesome.The menu items explained the name cowfish.. Yes burgers and sushi. Not just any burgers though, amazingly tasty burgers. I had a small portion of my brothers Buffalo Chipotle.I went with the sushi.. The Fiery Dragon Roll and a Philly Roll. From the presentation to the taste it was amazing. The ginger was fresh, but I'm pretty sure that was a horseradish paste not wasabi. If I'm wrong, many apologies.Everyone at our table was pleased with their food. The service was amazing. The staff working at the Cowfish are topnotch.Next time I'm in Charlotte NC I'm going back!

Wanted to try a new place and I’m glad I did . I didn’t know this place gets so crazy busy, it was a 2.5hr wait! YEESH! But we went to the bar and enjoyed ourselves, Jared the bartender was superb! Crab Rangoon dip? Sushi was? burger was good, not the best I’ve had. But was worth getting?? The Martini was good, forgot the name…but has gummy bears in it? Never had a martini, so i had to try it. Great celebration night ???

Update: I’m updating my review and adding a star. After leaving the review Cowfish reached out, and they went above and beyond what I could have expected to make things right. Once we’ve gone back, I will update again.I’m extremely disappointed with our last two Cowfish experiences. I will start by saying the food is excellent. While slightly high on price, the food is always delicious. Especially the sushi.But our service and recent experience, especially with the price, will make us consider other options in the future.Tonight we were sat just before 6:00pm. It took between 5-10 minutes before we were greeted by anyone, and it wasn’t even our server that greeted us, just someone to grab us drinks while we waited. I was willing to give grace as they were busy and I know a large number of restaurants are short staffed.As soon as our server came over I ordered my child’s food so she could eat ASAP while I finished looking over the menu with my husband.About 10 minutes later we ordered our food.After waiting at least 10 minutes after that… still no food for our child. (We ordered a PBJ by the way.)Eventually our sushi was brought to us. Before our child’s meal!!When we did get our child’s meal it was missing the dessert that typically is included. The waitress casually mentioned something about dessert coming out if it was done in time…No dessert or replacement was ever brought. And we were not offered any kind of discount or refund. The fact we waited so long for our child’s food and did not even get everything that was supposed to be included and still paying the full price was extremely frustrating.If you are so busy that you cannot adequately take care of your tables that are there you should not be sitting so many tables for one thing. And to pay that much for the experience we had is not worth it to me. No matter how good the food is.(We also had to ask for napkins multiple times. The first server we asked acted like we asked an extremely hard question and then brought any.)

Everytime we are in Charlotte we go to Cowfish. The food is amazing, they serve a combo of American food and Japanese cuisine. Thw atmosphere is awesome and there is something to look at around every corner. They even have funny translations of how to say different things in Japanese, 'redneck' country, and normal speech playing in the bathrooms. There is also a Cowfish outside of the restaurant so you can take photos with it. The dried peppers and pickles are a must, and their Cowfish bento box gives you the best out of both cuisines.

Me and a long time friend met up here after not seeing each other for some years to catch up. The servers were really friendly, helpful, and generous. It was no problem splitting the check or getting some things to go because we wanted to bring some food home with us to eat later! It's a clean and pretty cool place to be, the decor is nice and I really like the dessert part of the menu personally.HOWEVER, (We did all order one thing off the menu, burger, sushi, milkshakes, mixed drinks, and cake) I refuse to order any sushi with any fish in it because they have been shut down multiple times for having problems with giving people food poisoning And making people sick. I'm from the beach and I've always had really fresh fish so I was skeptical about ordering the fish anyway, my fiance ordered fish and his sushi and he was fine... But when I tasted it, I didn't like it very much personally. I didn't ask if their fish was fresh or frozen but it is sushi after all. That's just something I want other people to know about, you can always look up the articles yourself. (Btw, The sushi rolls are comparable size and quality to New Zealand Cafe on Sardis road, that's my favorite local sushi place, But not quite as fresh as Thiers just for reference)The burger was super amazing and juicy and really good! My fiance who is a human garbage disposal managed to eat a whole roll of sushi and half of the burger but still had to bring half of it home because it was so big and good! The milkshake and cake was fabulous and definitely had to bring more of it home and my friend also smashed two whole huge rolls of sushi and the mixed drinks were good too!I enjoyed watching the huge fish tank they have there and the food came out hot And pretty quickly. The cheese fries weren't my favorite cuz they had like creamy nacho cheese on them but they were string fries and they were fried good and cleanly. And although I can't say I will go back just because of the fish problem that they've had and how sensitive I am to fish I would definitely go back for a good burger and would recommend it to other people for a good burger and milkshake!We weren't rushed out of there at all and even though there was a bit of a buzz going on in the room - we sat there for three plus hours and we're able to chat and slowly eat with our friend... And the servers didn't over babysit us, really appreciate that! It was a pretty good experience.

Serves good food 99/100 times, staff is excellent aswell. They were able to seat me and my gf with only 15 minutes left before closing despite me making it clear that I would be unoffended if they turned us away. Food is great and the decor in combination serves a unique atmosphere of modern western burger stand fused with Japanese sushi house.

I've heard just good things about this place, and everything is true. We had sushi and also burgers, everything delicious. The waiter was so welcoming and helpful (going to a restaurant with a baby sometimes is not easy), the only thing was, the host looked like he was having a bad day.

Always delicious food! One of the best overall restaurants in Charlotte. Unfortunately it is Southpark by the mall..always busy and wait times can be forever if you go during busy hours. Love the bento box, burgers and sushi. Drinks are pretty good too! Its always a go to for me. Hopefully they open on in Dilworth or NoDa!

This was my second time going to celebrate birthdays with friends. The service was always pleasant and there's normally a 30 -40 min wait which goes by fast. Food is always great and many options. There's outside seating as well. I would highly recommend Cowfish.
