Mels Drive-In

First time to the legendary Mel's. Seen it in numerous movies. Standard diner fare, ordered the smash burger, lots of fries. Took a while to get a waitress to take our order, but once they did, food was served promptly. Lots of great photos to see, especially for a movie junkie like myself.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all as I expected on our first visit to this Mel's Drive-In while on vacation in Los Angeles. They were rather busy on the afternoon we were there, but we were seated immediately, and our server was at our table within a minute. My wife had the Meatloaf Sandwich with slaw, and I had a Double Cheeseburger with fries. (pics of both.) Wife said the sandwich was one of the better Meatloaf Sandwiches she'd had. And we travel lots. My Cheeseburger was great, but really need to give a shout out for the fries. Hot, crispy (not limp), and plenty to share.Good job, Mel's Drive-In. 5 stars for ya.

Awesome low key breakfast/lunch shack located in the busy and fancy downtown area. The inside looks straight out of a movie from the 60's. Service was a great and prices were fair. I went with chicken and waffles. Chicken was surprisingly crispy and the waffle was made with eggs and bacon inside of it which was very unique. We took a chocolate milkshake to go. Check this place out for a lunch in the unique Beverly hills area.Cheers

Always a fun setting... BUT Haphazard service, order arrived at different stages, and the Clam Chowder did not come with sourdough bread even though the menu stated it did and the waitress failed to mention that!

Oh thank God for this Mel’s everything was made TO PERFECTION. Really so thankful for their chef wings, steaks, pancakes, you name it they whip it up soooooo good. I had the BEST first date here over the weekend and the staff is soo cool and make sure y’all tip them when you go because if you haven’t eaten here you’re missing out. This location tops Hollywood for me and is dangerously close to competing with the Mel’s in San Francisco. If we had grass-fed beef in LA they’d take it on Sunset! They gave such great service and if it isn’t obvious I highly, highly, highly recommend coming and enjoying Mel’s ??

Restaurant with a different vibe. Close to the Hollywood walk of fame in the middle of sunset boulevard. Unlimited coffee served. We ordered the avocado sandwich and the rise and shine sandwich. The rise and shine sandwich was pretty delicious compared to the avocado sandwich.

Overrated , overpriced , inconsistent service...i was pressed for time and it was closer to my site is the only reason I came here ...if you have the time and don't mind the wait?? go 2 or 3 blocks down west (for breakfast) at DIALOG CAFÉ (bacon, eggs & potatoes etc***Dialog does not charge extra for Turkey Bacon) and you get a quality & well portioned breakfast w/ meat & potatoes included for a fraction of the price than here at Mel's... & really good welcoming service !

This restaurant is suffering the same decline as many others in LA. Staffed with people who simply don’t give a s$):/ about the place or the customers. The place is cool looking but it’s marred by bussing carts looking gross right in an area once used for seating by the front windows. The management have the staff, who couldn’t care much less about what they’re doing judging by the poor service, in black T-shirts without regard for any kind of nostalgia the rest of the place leans on. The table juke box took out quarter without playing music, as it did an adjacent table’s customers. People need to stop patronizing bad over priced restaurants staffed by people who don’t care, owned and run by people who don’t care.

Sat on the balcony and had some nice staff tend to us. Had the bacon ranch fries and they were tasty. $5 mimosas makes for a great place to watch Sunset and have some drinks and nibbles. Perfect pre party spot.

One of my favorite places to visit for lunch or dinner on Sunset Blvd. They have $5 dollar momsias which are yummy and affordable. I ordered the BLT with avocado & fries. Great view from my table surrounded by photos of stars who have visited the restaurant. The service is normally great. When I mention it was too warm Justin the manager on duty turned on the AC & offered a large glass of water. My waitress Molly was hard to find when I needed service. It was busy so I'm assuming that was the reason for the lack of service. I suggest visiting this establishment for a family, friendly experience.

If you like oldies music and diner fair, this is the most reasonably priced option on Sunset that I've found so far. My French dip was tasty if a little small. The fries were hot and crispy and the ranch was top five I've had in LA. Plenty of parking was available, which is always a bonus. Come enjoy the kitsch.

Great milkshake on Sat night! Ironically the place was not crowded but the service is slow! The traditional shake is served with all the mix which is easy to split for 2 people.

I've always loved coming here never had a bad experience. Before It was Mel's Diner it was called Ben Frank's. The food is beyond delicious I highly recommend this place Its located in West Hollywood.

Great experience and restaurant, especially if you want that nostalgic feeling while you eat. They had jukebox’s at every booth, with a great selection of old vintage music. I had ordered root beer float, a banana split (which I split with three other people), and a classic burger. The classic burger was great, greasy (as any old diner would do) and it was great. I would definitely add it to my top ten burgers of all time (for now.)

My partner and I are visiting from New Zealand and it's our first time in America! We came to Mel's looking for an authentic American diner experience and got exactly that! Food was amazing and the service was top notch ? Our waitress Amanda was super lovely and even gave us a souvenir ? Highly recommend for an authentic dining experience!

Such a great diner. Cute place- great decor. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Everyone was friendly, from the gentleman that treated us to our server and the kitchen staff that ran our food. Food was generous portions, and really good. Menu had a ton of great options making it hard to choose. I love that while there were so many great choices, it wasn’t an overwhelming menu. We tried the smash burger, fries, grilled cheese, tomato soup, coleslaw and potato salad - all were great. So glad we found this place - will definitely be back.

Iconic drive-in restaurant off Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Delicious burgers, milkshakes and desserts with super fast service. Free parking is a big bonus!

Great people watching spot on Santa Monica Blvd. Got the classic Mel burger ? gluten free style. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary; they just lay the gf bread onto the patty without mayo. Nothing special. The fries are good!

The man at the front was rude he seemed displeased to see us. After asking where we wanted to be seated he then rudely asked for vaccination proof then told us leave i understand that we need to be vaccinated but why was this not the first question asked. Why would you give me hope of being able to eat something just to crush my hopes

Huge portions. We shared each meal. Excellent service. If you liked Happy days you will love here. Working juke boxes in the booths. Open 24hrs. Recommend the ribs and the egg avocado. Mel’s burger good too:)r

Ordered burger and fries. Asked for medium done burger got well-done and dry. Fries weren't fresh and were barely warm. Had to ask for more water. Ketchup bottle hadn't been opened for use and couldn't figure it out until I opened the cap. Paid $18 for this with insane 10.25% West Hollywood sales tax. Otherwise ambiance is great and would be fun with a small group if you didn't get this kind of food.

Probably the worst Mel's we've been to.Our server was very nice, but the food tasted old and stale. My gf ordered the avocado toast, the bread was wet and soggy, there was hardly any avocado, and the poached egg was whatever.I ordered the chicken fried chicken but then was told they no longer make that, even though it was on the menu. So then I switched to the fried chicken dinner. The chicken itself had no seasoning or flavor, the fries were burnt to a crisp and tiny little 1 inch pieces you couldn't even dip in ketchup, and the coleslaw was an odd mix of iceberg lettuce with cabbage. Never had it this style before.Overall it was very blah.The Mel's diner in Santa Monica was FAR superior. Go there instead.
