Haystack Burgers and Barley

We have ordered a burger weekly for over a year. The past few times the meat patty is half the size that it has been for the same price. We’ll have to find another burger place, sadly 😞

The staff are incredibly kind, we are regulars and sit at the bar and this has been our consistent favorite because of the fantastic service and great vibes. Love this place - great for both families and couples and absolutely delicious.

Boss lady and I ordered to-go. I ordered the goat cheese and fig burger... fabulous! (I don't use that word often) The meat was cooked medium, and the toppings made an amazing bight each time. She had the regular burger with bacon, really good! The 50/50 fries onion ring combo would have tasted better eaten in-house.The joint is like a fish bowl with two walls with windows everywhere. You would think they'd keep the place cleaner.

Great burgers, the haystack burger is the way to go. The regular burger is also a great option. The fried pickles and french fries are a good side dish.

I’ve always enjoyed their burgers, especially the Haystack! A high quality, filling burger.A star off for their fries though. This is one of the very rare spots I don’t order some with my burger. They have a dark, oily taste, with a lot of salt as their only seasoning.If they’re going to charge 30-40% the cost of the burger (???) for them, add some flavor. Old bay, Cajun, different/less salt even.

Came here for the first time. I honestly would find another spot to go to. The employees looked annoyed we were there and not very helpful. The burger had zero flavor. I tasted the meat alone and nothing it was just bland. The fries were way to salty. There are plenty of other gourmet burgers options around this area that are way better.

A friend told me about Haystack Burgers and Barley. This place is really great. Burgers are always fresh and full of flavor as well as juicy as a burger can be. Ingredients are always fresh and crispy. The doping sauces are just amazing. A little bit spicy but just enough kick to make your taste buds go crazy. The fries. The fried pickles are amazing, crunchy, and well seasoned. You can have them with the dipping sauces or just plain they're so good. Staff is great, very helpful & friendly. Had a little trouble ordering but the cashier was amazing he reccomend a couple burgers. Which we did ended up getting! He did not disappoint with the recommendations. Had about 7-9 different kinds or beers all which were small batch and small business breweries around the metroplex. Great place to get your burger with the family. Definitely recommend this place.

I really wanted to like Haystack more than I did. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot going for it. The bar is loaded with options, the tap list is strong, and the signature burgers are good. However, there are some obvious things that need to be addressed. My burger shouldn't bleed everywhere and pour out grease. I didn't order beef stew. The fries are good, but I don't need two potatoes worth of fries in a single basket. They should reduce the portion which would likely spare a lot of waste and save them money. If you're with a friend or more then one basket is probably fine. So it's a good spot to eat, but I know it could be better.

Much like the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, we need to remember one rule at Haystack Burgers & Barley in Dallas: Always carry a towel. I, myself made this mistake, of not grabbing one of the insanely large napkins as I made my way to my table outside and believe me, the decision was regretted. Never the less, the review was done!So, when I went to Haystack, it was a very open, and brightly lit space which seemed refreshing in the light of their farm-themed menus. I was able to place my order at the counter within minutes of arrival and I ordered the Escabeche Burger and the Kennebek Fries.These fries were perfect fries. Not mushy, but fluffy insides with a crisp outer shell created from the frying process. The Kennebek seasoning hit the spot!The Escabeche Burger was wonderful, it wasn’t necessarily the largest burger I have ever eaten, but it does rank among some of the bigger burgers in the area. It was a thick, juicy patty with decent sear. The bacon didn’t destroy my teeth or pull the sandwich apart and the jalapeños and onions really played their part in a wonderful mingling of flavors. I have to say that these are some of the best ingredients I’ve tasted and each item on this sandwich had an extremely loud flavor behind it, nothing was lost on my tongue as I ate it.Overall, if you’re looking for an extremely satisfying burger with fresh, explosive ingredients, give Haystack a try. We like to come here after bike rides on the weekend. We generally have a pretty large group and the staff has always been very courteous and helpful. Great food and service!

The food was so good and the service was even better!!!!!! Entire staff was super friendly and helpful, very much appreciated. I ordered the barn door burger and half fries/onion rings- delicious!!! Will come back for the January incentive :)

the customer service is great! as soon as I walked in i was welcomed and not in one of those generic ways you see all the time when everyone just says 'welcome to blah blah'. the manager Chris even came and said, 'hello!'. if you're looking for a place with great customer service to take the family, Haystack is the way to go ??

Mac Donald's is better. This place is bad. The burger was tough and over cooked. The black tea wasn't black tea. More like 3day old plain old tea. The staff by no means goes out it's way to accommodate the client. I asked why there were no lettuce tomatoes onions on my burger and I briskly told I had ordered it that way. Of course the majority of burger joints included said compliments without question. My advice is to avoid this place you'll thank me.

This is a great place for Burgers and sides. Their food is fresh and cooked to order (I like my burger med rare). The sides are delicious (my favorite is the Mozarella sticks). I highly recommend Haystack if you want a really good burger.

Haystack Burgers has the biggest, creamiest, cheesiest, fresh Mozzarella Sticks! They are the best! Everything they make is amazing. I highly recommend The Vanderslice Burger with the banana pudding milk shake.

We went today for the first time. It's the best burger I've had in Dallas. I had the Haystack Burger and my wife had the Pattymelt. Awesome food!

First time here, definitely enjoyed the food and the nice vibes. Very attentive staff! Had the “down on the farm haystack” beef burger, and the “ Lindsey’s haystack sandwich ” which can with turkey bacon and ham. Both were delish, will be coming back to try more menu items. Nice hidden gem

The cheese burger was absolutely terrific, lettuce and tomato on it were fresh and crispy. The Haymaker cocktail was also yummy! We like a Sunday night burger so we’ll be back for sure!!

Been here twice and the cooks do not understand how to cook a burger. Both times my medium came rare and when I sent it back they just put the cut end on the grill to make it look medium. The part past the browned cut was stil very pink.My wife asked for well done because she didn't trust the cook It was medium (a slight pink) in the middle. Everything else was great but come on it's a burger place. Teach the cooks what color Well to Rare is or how to use thermometer to measure internal temp.Not sure I'll gut it a third time.

This place has way better cooks then the location in Plano what a difference. So amazing!! Patty melt is so seasoned and they know how to cook a well done burger!! Mad props guys! Chill spot. Busy Saturday afternoons. Only thing I don’t feel was good was the banana pudding shake,(had no banana flavoring) ?

Who’s idea was this anyway! Cheers to you! This is the best concept I e seen for a burger joint in a long time. Uptown with a splash of back home wherever you’re from. You rocked my socks off today! My husband ordered the same burger everywhere we go so while it’s boring to me, it’s also a great litmus test. It wasn’t just my burger that was good but his too. You can see the tastiness rolling off these burgers ? The fries are perfect! Slight crispy outside and smooth potato inside. Yum! I also got the stuffed jalapeños also. They’re not beautiful but they taste so good. It’s that good pain where the taste draws you back in even though the heat bites you back a little. Will definitely be back as soon as we can be back in the area.

I was not expecting to be served the best burger of my life when I walked in, but there you go. I had a mushroom swiss which was the special of the day. Unbelievably juicy and flavorful beef cooked just right. Beautiful wilted greens and thin sliced sauteed shrooms. Rockets to the top of my fave Dallas burgers surpassing the Ozersky at Knife and the stalwart Adair's. It's was rather emotional ngl. Wish I hadn't slept so long on Haystack!

Exceptional. The chicken fried burger makes me wonder if Grady Spears developed the menu; it was that good. Indoor seating, no masks, cold Blood & Honey on tap, decent wine selection. Will try the grilled portabella salad next visit.

It is a restaurant with a good atmosphere, they serve very soft, delicious hamburgers, it contains very fresh lettuce and the chicken is very well cooked. My wife, my daughter, and my two grandchildren left very happy.

This is a standard gourmet burger place. Just like Liberty Burger for example.There is a good sized bar abs plenty of seating inside. There is also a patio to the side that seems like it would be ideal for much if the year. It was too cold on our visit to try it.They have an interesting selection of burgers. The fires are medium thick and the rings are shoestring. There’s a good selection of beer on tap.The burgers are nice and thick. There’s no skimping on anything.I do think this is the first time I’ve encountered a burger that was over seasoned. There was just too much salt. Everyone in my party agreed. And I use a lot of salt in my cooking. So I think that’s a miss for them.Otherwise this seems like a nice place.

Delivery and it was delicious. The Pastrami Reuben was perfect. The meat was tender and lean. The Mix with French fries and fried onions were crisp and had just the right seasoning. The dipping sauce, included in my bag, was surprisingly tasty with a tiny bite to it. It really tied the whole meal together.

The stuffed jalapeños were canned jalapeños and tiny. My burger was raw and lacking flavor. Wouldn’t recommend it- spent $70 for 2 adult burgers and a kids meal with 1 beer.

The food is great. Beer selection is superb. The service is horrific. I witnessed two ladies come to the bar and be completely ignored as the server was delivering food to someone sitting right next to them. They are clearly in need of someone to manage the staff. I waited for 15 minutes to get the check. Had to ask for it. You're welcome owners!

The burgers were good and greasy and they made it how ever you ask. The amount of fries per order is good enough for 2 people who are both hungry, but they are a dry. The winner was the drink “the haymaker”. It was delicious! If I could have that and the burger only I would be good. The atmosphere is fine.

We sat on the patio, it was windy, but fun.We suggest trash with swing kids. The birds were scavenging the trash left and came very close to the people eating, not pleasant to have birds fighting over scraps while you're eating

We just happen to drive by this place because the majority of the other restaurants in our area are not open for a late lunch, yet. I was highly impressed with the fresh cut french fries and their seasoning as well as the onion strings with spicy ranch dressing. The spicy ranch dressing is legit! We had the cubby's chicken sandwich and avacado ranch burger, both were fresh and made to order. Everything has a fresh taste and the fries are cut in house. Cute, clean dining room with separate bar and available patio with AstroTurf. Kitchy!

First time here, I was Recommended The Barn Burger by the Cashier (witch was very nice) I like the Grilled Poblanos it added that spicy kick I was looking for. The ambiance was perfect for a burger spot. Only issue I had was the Onion Rings (or onion fries) they were a bit small and flavorless, not what I’m used when I hear Onion Rings. Just added salt and pepper to finish them. Other than that burger was great, drizzled that Chipotle Ranch over it and boom! Washed it down with a Arnold Palmer.

I usually love this place but this is the second time I've picked up my burger and the bottom bun is soaked. With either condensation or greese. It's disgusting.

Amazing burgers and the menu overall is diverse with many options. This place offers a great ambiance with a beautiful patio and plenty of indoor outdoor seating. Service was super attentive with great attention to detail. Absolutely love supporting small businesses like this that operate in this manner. Keep up the great job.

OooRah! They are open for dining in during hot summer months. Yea. 1st visit to this location as we have eaten at their Richardson and Frisco locations. We were in the neighborhood for another errand so we stopped by for weekday lunch. Well worth it. Great big burger, see photo. Next time one burger for the two of us would be just fine.

Did like this place when it first opened but the last two times have not been great. Just a few days ago, I ordered a no pink avocado bacon burger. They gave me a red meat burger.I hate complaining about the food order, fearing they’d reheat it like you see in the movies (it’s never happened). I couldn’t eat a red burger so I had to ask. Sure enough, they reheated the bacon avocado burger. Don’t know if it was placed in the microwave or back on the stove. Avocado was brown, bacon over cooked, meat not good and buns flat like sliced bread.I wouldn’t recommend this place for a burger.
