This was our first time there and Yum, I think this was the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. That breading tasted like bacon, and everyone knows EVERYTHING tastes better with bacon.

I couldn’t wait to try Fred’s after seeing him being interviewed on tv. Upon entering, the sign says to seat yourself. We did, next to the warm fireplace. I stayed standing because the table had food ALL OVER IT! When the waitress came up, she ignored it and laid the menu’s down on right top of it. I very kindly asked her if she would please clean the table. She snapped back with an excuse that she thought she would take our drink order first. My thought was why would you even set menu’s down on a dirty table?Then, she came to the table and took one, literally one, swipe at my side of the table. She never even wiped the other side where my family members were sitting. There was still food All Over The Table. Now, that was uncalled for! I got up and went to the restroom, which was clean by the way, got paper towels wet with soap and went back to clean the table myself. She watched me do it, then was extremely polite after that.I couldn’t decide if she was just uneducated on how to do her job, or just being obstinate at first, so I said nothing to the manager. Maybe I should have?Either way, we loved the food and atmosphere, but were completely taken aback by the attitude and effort of the waitress in the beginning.

My only issue is it is a bit expensive. For 1 soda, 1 kids lemonade, 1 kids meal, an order of chips and queso and 1 burger with fries it was still $50. But food was delicious and friendly service. We just can't afford to go as often as we would like. We take out of town guests there.?

I would say this place is a 4.5 out of 5. Considering that, I rounded up. I had the mushroom burger on texas toast with loaded French fries. The burger was great on texas toast with bacon! As for the loaded French fries, they are amazing! The only complaint is that some of the people that were here on a Friday night decided you should know about their life from 3 tables away. So. If you're looking for a chill spot and good food, come in on a weekday. Enjoy the good food and great smiling service.

Over all it’s okay. The two biggest things are they don’t ask you how you want your burger cooked and after all burgers is their specialty, right? Hence Fred’s burgers. The prices are a bit over the top. $18 for a burger and fries.

Went in early dinner 330. I had Fred's burger and fries. Hot fresh fries burger was hot with lots of fresh veggies. Traditional chicken fried steak with gravy mashed potatoes. Also came out with collard greens asked if could trade for fries waitress had no problem even asked do you want me to remove it from your plate or keep it. We keep it. Brought a to go cup with Dr pepper.

Really was surprised how great this place was. The patio is nice to hang out on. Definitely worth a visit. Margaritas were great.

If you enjoy average food this is the place for you, totally disappointing. In another review I saw another patron said the food was subpar and the management responded to the review and said they would let management know. That was 7 months ago and obviously the issues haven't been addressed

Fred's burgers are legit, I never used to visit the 7th street location that often because of parking, but the new location is great. Live music on Fridays and a relaxed local feeling is what makes this place great. The service is great as well.

Great to have Fred's back after their departure from West 7th area! The new place is nice but still set up like the former tenant so it doesn't really fit the vibe the old Fred's had. Rooms are more closed off. But as always the burgers were great! I do wish the service was a bit more attentive. Definitely will be back! Chicken fried steak is next!

I wouldn't suggest eating here at all. Or at least, not this location. We work a mobile business on the weekends, so in-between appointments, we stopped for take-out. (Around 1600) Ordered an Outlaw Burger, a Double H (no tomato) & a Fred's Burger (dry). I don't know what burger I received, but it 100% wasn't the Outlaw, as there as no stuffed poblano pepper, no pico de gallo & no guacamole. I literally received: meat, cheese & lettuce. I don't know how the meat tasted as I had to trade my plate with my partner. Partner ordered the Double H w/no tomato due to allergy reasons. However, when we opened the box, there was definitely tomato hanging out between the lettuce & the patty. So, he couldn't eat it, even if we pulled the tomato off, or I would have had to stab him with an Epi & race to the ER. He ate my 3 ingredient burger & I ate his. Not sure if the chef was having a bad day or what, but his patty was cooked way passed medium. We're talking dry as the Sahara; luckily he didn't use the ranch for his fries & I used that to get some type of moisture. HOWEVER, ranch & eggs DO NOT mix so I 10/10 don't reccomend that to anyone. I tried calling in once we got the availability & I was gaslit by the person on the phone & was told it wasn't their problem and that I should have double checked before I left; therfore making it my fault. I spent $60 & change on 3 burgers with "loaded" fries. Which, by the way, y'all are supper stingy on. Three slices of jalapeño & a sliver of does not equate to loaded.That was a LOT of money to spend on an order that was 2/3 incorrect/un edible for the person who ordered. UNACCEPTABLE. I swear Whataburger has better customer service when they mess up. DO BETTER. I only rated 2 stars just b/c the fries were fine. I really wanted to like this place but I'm not sure if I would chance going back.

I ordered the bleu cheese bacon burger and it was pretty good! I was with a party of nine so the service was a little slower than normal but the food was good. The drink specials were decently priced so I'll have to come back when not with coworkers :)

First visit.....we will be back.The atmosphere is great for good conversation. The open patio doors are a nice touch.There's much to be explored on the menu. I myself started with the fried pickles and the cheese fries with bacon. Neither were a disappointment.I went the brave route and had the CFS Outlaw. The strangest CFS I've ever encountered....and I loved it!So, of course the traditional CFS was on spot as well.Then there was a burger ordered, meat and cheese only. Now the burger patty was fantastic! The flavor is definitely there and perfectly cooked. My only complaint about the burger is the choice of bread. Why would you use such a substandard bun with such a magnificent patty?Service was okay... The hostess was let go early which left us awkwardly standing and waiting in front not knowing if we should sit ourselves. Until we saw a "wait to be seated" sign about 6 feet from the entrance around the corner to our left. We caught the attention of a server randomly turning a corner and caught her attention and so she took us to her section.Servers definitely need to make certain the salads being served are not littered with slimy leaves. We did send back two salads because of wilted lettuce.Friendliness was a 6 out of 10.We will definitely be back and I'm going to order a big juicy burger, I really hope, does not have a bun that falls to pieces.And I really look forward to the banana pudding because I forgot to get it this time☺️Side note --- out side lights need replacing or added. Way too dark at night for the area.

First time in this joint and the service was amazing. My bartender was spectacular and so handsome! I think his name was Mac. We had so much in common and once lived in the same area! Would definitely come back just to see him! :) but overall had a great time, very friendly staff.

One of the best burgers around with the coldest draft beers. Busy and packed on a Saturday. Great place to eat andthe employees are wonderful, but we miss the old place. We always sat at the bar and ended up visiting with the people around us.

To say this was an incredible chicken fried steak would be an understatement. It was fresh, tender, and homemade and really crispy even under the gravy. I would rank it in the top 5 I've ever had. The onion rings were equally good and plenty of them. The burgers that we saw carried by looked really good too.The service was a little lacking as the kitchen kept messing up orders. I never got my salad and the couple next to us had to send their food back twice. All-in-all I'd still highly recommend the food and will definitely be back.

If you are craving a burger give this place a try. I was disappointed with the chairs as they were hard uncomfortable with no padding. As someone with nerve damage and arthritis in my hips this is important. The fries were great but very small portions. The burgers were very very good. The service was ok. Refills were hard to come by. They have live bands in the evening times so perhaps they are geared for evening crowd and lunch isn't as staffed.

First time here today, the Atmosphere was really cool, service awesome, food awesome. The wait time to get food not so much. Way over priced. $50 for two burgers, one fry, and two drinks. And fried pickles. It was a burger. Not even a combo. Had to pay for fries separately... Really? Probably want be going back any time soon.

The selection is great but the hamburger doesn't come with french fries. If two people go together, order a chicken fried steak and give the fries to the person ordering the burger.

Food is a little pricy but the burgers are great. I have gad several different ones and have not been disappointed. The onion rings and fries are just as good. Always have had good service whether there for lunch or dinner. Definitely would stop by Fred's and grab a bite. Will not disappoint.

Fred's has moved but has not lost anything in translation. If anything, they are as good or better. Great bar, great food, service is excellent. Everyone in the place seems to come and check on our table, lol. Try the appetizers they will feed your table

Our first time, eating at Fred's. It was very pleasant ☺. The service was excellent and they had COLDASS beer. We really enjoyed it. I loved the loaded nachos, super yummy, as was the Serrano burger ?. I will be going back to try their chicken fried steak.

if i sit at the south side facing north i see the old freds, if i sit on the north side facing south i see steak & ale.... you should make the south look more like the north.. just my opinion.. alot of us miss the pictures and various odds and ends of the old freds hanging up all over.! you are very pricy! burger should come with fries! onion rings are very good but not $7.00 good!. not paying for fries or rings when i know they are very cheap to make ! come on man!! also get some more craft beers on tap for a decent price ?

Our first time there. We sat at the bar and had great service. We had the Big Fred, him with delicious fries and I had OMG!! Onion rings. Everything was way more than we expected. Oh and the Margaritas are fabulous. Thank you for the great experience.

The only problem I had here was I ordered cheese fries. I ask for jalapeños. They were mushy and seeds were brown. Should not have served them. I didn't address as I didn't realize I was charged for them until I left. I thought they were included. If you are going to charge extra it should be fresh.

The only bad thing about my experience was I got cheese fries and didn't get jalapeños so ask for them. They were at the point should have been thrown out. Mushy and seeds were brown. I didn't notice the charge for them until I left or I would have addressed it there. I actually thought they were supposed to come with it.But service was great and what I had was good.

Good option for casual sit down meal. Menu has enough variety and all options are large portions. Nice patio and bar areas for those not wanting traditional dining. Service is always good as well. Glad to have Freds in the neighborhood.
