Little Red Wasp

This was a complete surprise to my wife and me. We made reservations for dinner before a show at Bass Hall. Not sure what we expected having looked at the menu online, but it was not this. Little Red Wasp is a very cool little bar/restaurant with a totally energetic and modern vibe about it. Service was excellent, food was very good, drinks were creative, beer list and wine lists quite impressive. What an excellent small little gem of a restaurant this is in the heart of Fort Worth. I would choose it any day over its expensive neighbors – Capitol Grill and Ruth’s Chris. My wife and I decided on an appetizer dinner – getting a lot of sharables instead of each a full meal. Our selections were: Shrimp + Avocado Cocktail, Brisket Potstickers and Whipped Ricotta. The Shrimp + Avocado was like a combination of the high-end mixed greens salad and a shrimp cocktail served with their Wasp Sauce (a lot like a thousand island). Shrimp were large and meaty, avocado was fresh, as were the greens. The sauce was good. Brisket Potstickers were served with a teriyaki like dipping sauce. These were good but not exceptional. The highlight for us of the appetizers was the Whipped Ricotta. First of all the sourdough toast was perfect and the ricotta cheese was perfect, especially the flavorful touch of the local honey. Then to the side was a huge mound of heirloom tomatoes, both large tomatoes sliced and small colorful cherry tomatoes halved, all in olive oil. We simply took pieces of toast, spread the cheese and then topped it with the tomatoes then ate it like pizza. Excellent flavor. For our final item we split the Pulled Pork BBQ Mac + Cheese with Crispy Onions. Again, they did an amazing job with flavor and consistency combinations. We ended with the very decadent cinnamon and sugar donut holes which were so airy they felt more like beignets from the streets of New Orleans. Again excellent. My wife and I will return. I suggest making reservations because by 5:30 on a Saturday it was packed.

Returned to this restaurant after I was her two years ago, love it. The deviled eggs appetizer is amazing. It can get crowded fast!

Good food. Good service great atmosphere. Three stars because the menu pricing It's all over the place. None of it seems to make sense and it's very expensive for what it is. Whipped ricotta cheese for $18 as an appetizer $18 for brisket potstickers. And $21 for a Reuben sandwich. But then it's 14 to 18 for a burger. It's just weird.

Food was ok. Very pricey! Service was terrible!! Waitress waited on tables around us and ignored us. After about 15 minutes of taking our money she came by and asked if we needed change. When we said yes she said well I need to attend to this other table. We waited over 30 minutes for change. The waitress brought a wad of money to table and couldn’t count correct change. Didn’t get the correct change but had waited so long didn’t want to wait any longer. Terrible!!

Best Cesar salad I've ever had! Great atmosphere and excellent service. Around the corner from a parking garage and it was a nice walk around the block. I'd love to go back and try other things on the menu!

The atmosphere and service at Little Red Wasp is always amazing. The food is good although I feel like it's overpriced for what you get. The cocktail menu is really what keeps us coming back for brunch!

The service was okay but I think our waiter was having a bad day and he did tell us he was called in on his day off so I’m not going to hold that against him. The food was amazing! We got the whipped ricotta to start and it was simple but the tomatoes on the side were fresh and delicious. My husband got the hot ham sandwich. It was not spicy but it was packed with ham and the gravy was to die for. His brother got the French toast with thick cuts of bread and crystallized sugar on the outside. The berries on top were fresh and so sweet. I got the corned beef and it was the best corned beef I’ve ever had. The only downside to this place is that it’s located in Dallas and we’re from Houston. However, we will be coming back.

High price staff not to smart had to ask for everything salt and pepper water Ketchup brings our food then I had to ask for a setup after our food came maybe that's because we sat at the bar?

This is a great place to catch lunch. Price is reasonable. Stopped in on business during a conference and had the crispy chicken sandwich...the slaw is AWESOME ....and if you go you shoukd ask for Elise ...probably spelled her name wrong...sorry, but she is GREAT... provided excellent service. Will definitely come back again.

Came here for brunch, the cocktails were delicious, but the food was basic the definitely not worth the price. I honestly do not recommend the brunch menu because everyone in my table complained about something. “Either the chicken did not have enough flavor, the bisque tastes so plain, & I can’t believe I am paying $18 for chis and salsa with egg (chilaquiles)”

The Reuben was good , but meat was a little dry /tough. Overall price was more than what it was worth, but then again it is in a nice downtown area. Would have been better if they offered another side other than some potato chips.

The food was average. Greasy chicken strips, great fries, but the fries are an extra $5 per kid (even though they don't say that when ordering). The salad was average size and over dressed. My bill bill for 2 kids meals, a salad and a salad for the kids, and a drink was $81 dollars!
