What a way to have a meal on a cold day, I've been coming here since they opened in the 2000's and i grew up on the drive-in in Charlotte. The onion rings are still as good as the last time. The burgers are great with a delicious milkshake. Any of the three locations are wonderful!

Loved it here! Loved the food and awesome atmosphere! It was pretty crowded when we went, so we might try going on a weekday. Staff was also super energetic and friendly!

Fantastic burger joint. I've been coming here for several years. This is an offshoot from the original South 21 near uptown. Burgers are great. Fries are spot on. Onion rings are giant. If you're around the area def. Check it out.

Date night with Daddy. I grew up on South 21 - Independence, worked for Mr. Sam at Seafrer, and Daddy eats at this one being a Mint Hillbilly. Absolutely awesome! That slaw! Those onion rings!!! I'm 21 for life!

Best burger in town, chicken sandwich to rival anyone else's and by far my favorite thing is the ribeye steak sandwich with those delectable onion rings! Move over smashbackshack burgers the reigning king is on his throneBring cash or get charged extra for credit/debitThe reasonably priced and much less expensive for as good if not better quality here

I miss the drive-up service 21 used to offer. It was definitely not the South 21 I remember. The hamburger was one burned slum meat, and the onion rings were from frozen used to be homemade. Will not go back.

My first time going there and I got a bacon cheese burger, fries, a drink and a slice of pecan pie. I pricked it up through the drive through since I was in the go. The sandwich and pie were very good. The fries were lacking salt so they were pretty bland and not the best. Overall I'm happy with what I paid for.

Everything cooked to order. Best local fast food in Charlotte. I should know. Lived here all my life. Started going to S21 as a kid on the boulevard across from the old coliseum in a gold station wagon.

I got the Jumbo Cheeseburger and let’s just say the it was a plan cheese burger nothing special about it. A little dry cause it only come with mustard. Alfred I dressed it up it did taste a lot better. The fries and onion rings didn’t have a taste. It would have been better with a little seasoning or something. They should definitely switch to crinkle fries.They must be popular for the other items on menu the burger definitely isn’t it.

They have changed the batter on their onion rings, not as good. Steak strip plate was not as good as usual. Husband had fish plate it was hot and good.

Came after church with our granddaughter. It was her first time. The lady behind the counter was super nice, she paid special attention to our granddaughter, she loved it. The food, service and atmosphere is great. We can't wait to come back for more onion rings.

South 21 has been our favorite place to eat ever since it was located in Pineville NC. So much so that we drive from Richburg SC over 50 miles. Always great service and even greater food.

The worst fried chicken I've ever had. It has too much breading and almost as hard as an eggshell. On top of that there was little to no seasoning. The fries were good. The staff is nice but won't be returning.

Everyone was very welcoming. Place was clean. Only issue was part of my order. I ordered onion rings and instead got fries. No big deal didn't ask for it to be fixed but was really wanting the onion rings. I realize mistakes can be made and this was very minor. Overall the food was great and would recommend you to go and try them out.

French fries & burgers are delicious! Chicken salad sandwich is good. Onion rings and potato salad is bland and disappointing. Still worth the visit, just get those tasty french fries.

Not the original South 21 that is just outside of downtown Charlotte on Independence Blvd/Hwy 74. This place is good and quick. Sometimes the food can be a bit overcooked and therefore dry, like their burgers or fried chicken, but it's alright as it's few and far between. I enjoy the atmosphere, vintage cars and murals painted all over the walls, classic diner red and chrome seating, I enjoy coming here and having a burger and fries while I sit at the window bar and watch Hwy 74 traffic. ??

Original South 21 was on 21 South aka South Blvd in CLT. Another still standing location with the same curb serve is on Independence. This however is the dine in version in Matthews and just like all the rest it's just as good. Staff friendly, food classically tasty! A taste of old Charlotte in the 50s! Enjoy!

You just can't go wrong with the 21!! Best Burger, Fish sammie, Crispy FF and Onion Rings!! No wonder they've been around for so long. My parents turned me on to them when I was a kid back in the 60's and turned my son on to them. Generations of good food!
