The Funny Farm Restaurant

This place was pretty good! I tried the truffle burger and the Philly Mac and cheese. Sort of unique menu with these wacky loaded Mac&cheeses and poutines, and good burgers.One small criticism is that the burger is a bit salty. The Mac&cheese cheese sauce is really creamy and tastes much more real than most Mac&cheeses.

Came for a Saturday dinner and was pleasantly surprised.I believe there were two employees at the time and both of them were very friendly and super cheery. The atmosphere seemed a bit quirky but quite fun. In fact, there's a riddle of the week posted near the register so you can ponder over it either waiting in line or while eating. The menu items are were also creatively named so I enjoyed even just reading every description. (I heard that the original owner of this restaurant worked for psycho donuts and the vibe is kinda similar)My table ordered a Truffle Shuffle burger (with fried egg), and a philly cheesesteak mac and cheese. Both came out quite promptly, looking and smelling quite good. I originally wasn't super hungry but when the food came out, my appetite started coming and I regretted not ordering another burger since it looked so good!The burger was nicely grilled with the best looking fried egg. The truffle flavor was prominent but not overdone. You will get your hands dirty from eating this juicy burger.The Philly cheesesteak Mac and Cheese was equally good. The Philly cheesesteak part was delicious and upon eating it, I immediately went back to the menu to see if there was an actual Philly cheesesteak, coz that's what I'm ordering next time. The mac and cheese itself was well done, flavorful and not overly salty. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The sauce was also very cheesy with some nice cheese pulls, which made it sort of fun eating.Definitely coming back to check out their items and possibly brunch items in the future

Wonderful experience. The service was outstanding, and the food was excellent (we got mac & cheese, which comes in a massive size). Ellie restored my faith in customer service. She is the ideal representation of what a waitress ought to be like—funny, attentive, courteous, etc. We felt incredibly privileged when the chef also came over to our table. The decorations are really creative and amusing.

Ordered the classic patty melt. It was pedestrian and had too much salt. Poutine was really good. However, what I didn't like was that you ordered at the counter and paid beforehand. The POS has automatic tip added (set at 18%) even before your food is made. There is no incentive here for good service. I think next time I'll zero out the automatic tip and leave cash tip after service.

Food was good, more on the heavy side. The restaurant is not large, seatings are arranged pretty close together. On a weekend, it was crowded, with dining in and to-go ordering lined up, not a very comfortable feeling. Service was a bit disorganized also.

The prices are very reasonable and they have an amazing variety of items to choose from.I'd tell you to trust my review but man vs food covered them, so you ought to believe that they are the best ones around!Here's my recommendations on what to try:UFO BURGER: 5/5Lord Jesus, trust me, once you have it, you'll never go back to another burger! Beef patties with jalapeño popper filled with cream cheese (yes, it was part of this delish!)Comfort food without poutine? What you talking about?All Meat Poutine: I don't think this was on the menu. Ron (Head Chef, founder, creator and breather of this place!!) was humble enough to make this for us! Undoubtedly, It was delicious! The gravy was great, right amount of meat...mmmm.Last but not the least (Not at all least as this one had 6 CHEESES)My most favorite item of the trip and mindblowing concept of the side that came with it:GRILLED CHEESE SERVED WITH A SIDE OF SYRUPI think this combination was too good to be true or to be rated! No points will be good enough!!I wasn't sure how it would go but Ron said "dip it, cmon, try it"! I dunked the sandwich into the syrup, will in goes my bite AND omg everything inside me blew up!Salty, sweet, cheesy, caramel? It was "ELECTRIC", I could feel firecrackers inside my mouth it was that amazing!!Highlight: Kudos to Ron and his team for being so nice and creating a place like this, this is the most amazing place I have been to in a while and the most passionate people I have seen!P.S: If you stop by this place, tell them "Sarah said Hi!".

Fun and cool place to eat. They have original dishes that make it difficult to choose what to eat. A lot of the customers seem to be regulars which adds to the friendly atmosphere. I had the cuban inspired melt sandwich and it was very good.

This place never fails. The food is always amazing the service staff is incredibly friendly ! Shout-out to Jazmine for the amazing smoothies every time ! 10/10 would recommend ! (Just a note this is the location that does NOT serve alcohol. That would be the other location.) But that doesn't take away from the food or experience at all.

We had breakfast this morning. We all enjoyed the food,good amount of food,but found the food just a little bit oversalted. The price was reasonable,great service. This was on Steven's Creek and there is parking behind after turning into the driveway right before you get to it.Will be back to try other dishes as my son had Loco mock and wife and I had short ribs/poutine.

My only gripe about this location is that it isn't open for later hours during the week. I'm a fairly regular customer and if you like fat food and have a weird side, this is the place to go! The staff are friendly and personable. The Porkasaurus Rex is legit one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life and it's my go-to meal from this place. The Monte Cristo and Philly Melt are really good, if you can eat the whole thing right away. The UFO burger is visually awesome and while it's hard to eat (it's soooo tall) it's delicious. The loaded tots are a meal in themselves, but I usually get them as a side. My next meal is going to be the MEGAburger and I still have to try one of the Poutine dishes. I can't wait to go again this week!!

Best food I've had in a very long time. Best service I've had in I don't remember how long. Went with a friend, first time for both of us, loved it so much that I brought the family there a few days later. Interior is great, jukebox music was good. Everyone was so friendly!Definitely going to keep coming back!

Fair warning, this place appears to be undergoing some renovations right now. It seems sketchy or closed at a glance. However, I've got to say the food was absolutely fantastic. It lives up to the photos, which is a rare and special thing. Once they get their renovations complete, this place is going to be constantly packed. I highly recommend you try their food.

Just to add, I stopped for lunch today 10/21/21 and had Poutine which was out of this world! Stopped in today for lunch, I tried the spicy Italian grinder on the recommendation of the owner, all I can say is WOW! I have never had a sandwich that good. I learned they have another location in south San Jose, I will definitely give it a try as well.What a great find!

We visited this place after seeing the good reviews. First of all, the location is a bit unorthodox, it is on a busy street and there is limited parking. Secondly the menu is quite limited for brunch, check the menu before visiting. the food was a bit underwhelming, the onions in the omelette were undercooked. Also for a place that serves sandwiches, not allowing to order toast as a side to eggs is a weird policy. I thought they were kidding at first. The staff was friendly and helpful, albeit not enough for a return visit though.

There is a new brunch menu on weekends featuring a Tater Tot Loco Moco and a giant slab bacon meal called Jurassic Pork World that is big enough for two people to share! Great smoothies and Frosticles to cool you down on a hot summer day, and hand crafted coffee drinks.

I had just a great experience eating at The Funny Farm house. Their food is so fresh and tasty!! They have options for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It’s perfect for the the whole family to eat at and definitely is worth the visit! I recommend giving them a try!!

Staff was welcoming and informative. Unique, small place. Kinda quirky. We waited quite a while before our food was ready and the gravy in the Poutine was just warm. The cheesesteak melt was good. Portions were a bit small but ok due to the prices being reasonable.

I ordered the Notorious P.I.G. poutine with an egg over-easy on top and a Monte Cristo. They were both delicious. I recommend that you try both.

The food is great - probably one of the best patty melts that I've ever eaten. Service was on point - the Funny Farm folks (I couldn't help myself there) are friendly, knowledgeable, and do a great job! If you're ever in San Jose - look this place up!

Loved everything that I tried at The Funny Farm Restaurant! Their staff was fun and helpful, the decor and vibe added so much fun to the experience and the food was delicious! I tried a few things including the Truffle Shuffle Burger which was loaded and so juicy, the Philly Steak Melt which was probably my favorite dish, their Beef Short Rib Poutine which was phenomenal and packed with flavor and their The Big Cheez Mac and cheese which was creamy and so cheesy. Their drinks were also bomb.com! I got the Mermaid Lemonade, the Peachy Keen (Mangonista style : chamoy and tajin added) and their belended coffee. I will define back! Best combination of delicious food and great service! They were understaffed, but that didn’t affect the quality of the food or service. Outdoor and indoor seating options for groups of 6+. Great selection of brunch and lunch items as well as beverages for the kids and adults. They are known for their burgers and didn’t disappoint. Highlight was loaded tots and poutine fries. We also enjoyed their Gooey Mac and El Jefe/Cuban sandwich. We had to also try their Mermaid Lemonade.

I don't get the negative reviews especially the last reviewer saying no kid friendly options? Like all the food is kid friendly and it's like walking into a fun zone with all the cool decorations. Literally, grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese, fries, burgers, cheese sticks, cookies, pancake balls, lemonade that changes colors, how is this not kid friendly? LOL. I don't get these negative Karens that have to trash good businesses just because they hate their lives and are miserable. The food here is incredible. Portions are so large you have to take some home which who doesn't love Funny Farm leftovers the next day. The owners are so hard working they make me tired just looking at all they do. They pour their heart and soul into their restaurant, food and trying to make their customers happy. How about pay it forward and be supportive and kind or just go eat at McDonalds and support businesses that don't care and just pump out low grade food cheaply. Personally, I'd feed my kid here vs. any fast food joint around. Thank you Ron and Monica for bringing the fun and quality back into comfort food! Love it!

What an excellent find and very fun, colorful concept. As their logo says, the food was "Crazy Good!" The place was very clean with in-door and outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and welcoming + one of the owners made it a point to walk around and check on everyone. Check out the pics... we had the "Stinky Fries", the crispy chicken BLT, their grilled cheese dipped in maple syrup (must try) and a Cesar salad.

10/10 recommend! Found it on a whim and has the cutest/funniest decor! Was craving a good ole egg Sammy and the “mother clucker” did NOT disappoint! Their steak fries were seasoned to perfection (ask for a side of their monkey sauce to dip them in!) Their Cesar salad came with delicious homemade croutons, fresh shaved Parmesan and crispy juicy chicken on top! They also have refreshing smoothies and really good soft baked cookies! Honestly, left so beyond satisfied I had to come write a review. I don’t even write reviews ? YALL NEED TO OPEN ONE IN SO CAL!

Best diner style restaurant hands down. It's not even a competition. Food was amazing, as well as the atmosphere and service. I really liked puns on the menu. I went here with my best friend and got the UFO Burger and Poutine, it was amazing.
