We enjoyed the waffle and wings. Probably one the best waffles I have ever heard. The servers were friendly but our actual waiter was not. Other staff constantly greeted us and by them being so friendly and flexible, the waiter stood out in a negative way.The atmosphere is buzzing with sports and conversation. Seems like a local favorite, the way the staff greeted and knew certain guest. We're going to visit again with the hopes of better service.

It's my third time here and I absolutely love it! My server has always been funny and so energetic (an older gentleman, I apologise for forgetting his name but I was having a great time I totally forgot to ask) and the food is so great again!!! I recommend this place for a cool laid back time with a date, friends, family or even alone! This is a spot I'd like to call a regular chill place where I can eat something delicious and have a great time. Will keep coming back here! P.S. the environment is great, they have a outside and inside area AND trivia nights on Tuesdays ❤️

It used to be a fairly priced Rockys crown pub knockoff buy with a little twist. Recently the food is way overpriced and the quality is lacking. Parking is a nightmare

Perfect place to meet up with friends for delicious food in a great atmosphere for great conversation. The service was on par. My burger and wedge salad were comparable to a high end place. The server even provided extra bleu cheese for the salad quickly upon request!! Definitely will return!

I've been coming here since the beginning. Not daily but have been here many, many times over the years. I'm starting to wonder why. The last few visits have been o.k to terrible. With the terrible being this last weekend. Mom wanted a patty melt for her birthday so let's give it another chance.Apparently they were having an event in the village so there was lots of people in the streets. We thought that it would be a wait but once inside it wasn't bad at all and we walked back to patio and sat. It started off good, the waiter seemed polite and was quick to get our drinks. I noticed we had no menus so asked if we could have some. He pointed to the plastic thing on table with a small menu on it. "That's all?" him: "yep, that's all" then silence. No explanation or any kind of rapport..blank stare. Because of the event it seemed they only had a limited menu. Bummer. Oh well, they had several burgers, sandwiches, salad, so we would have no problem finding something.I always get burgers when here so I went with a buffalo chicken sandwich this time. Bad decision. It arrived, ON A PAPER PLATE, and was the most pathetic little chicken breast I've seen in a while. Seriously, it looked like the frozen breasts that the sell at supermarket in the big bags. Maybe 5 ounces with a little slather of sauce on top. Bland, tasteless, unsatisfying in every way. I also got a side salad as well which was just a $6 plate of lettuce with a few slivers of onion and a pale tomato. My mother got the patty melt and it was fine but again, 6 ounces maybe. Very small (somehow I blanked out the size of their sandwiches or they have gotten smaller. I'm leaning towards the latter). Small portions are fine, we eat too much anyway but when you are charging $12-13 for just a sandwich with no fries? Come on. Did I mention the paper plates, plastic forks and solo cups for the drinks? Embarrassing. I could go to most fast food joints and get 2 sandwiches for $7 that taste better and are larger. The waiter disappeared pretty much for the rest of the meal, I think he checked on us once (and that was to pull more drink orders out of us). Never once asked how it was, if we needed anything, etc. Granted they got pretty busy but, like most restaurants now days (even before wit staff started quitting their jobs) they under staff to save a buck so it stresses everything out. 2 waiter/waitresses for 15 tables?So, all in all, 3 stars is being generous. It's based on what this place used to be and not what it's become. This visit was one star. 2 people, 2 bloody mary's, 2 plastic cups of wine, food with no appetizers = $70. As it has grown, service and food have declined. It's sad that is always the case.It's average, overpriced food. With more expensive drinks. Maybe to come and just drink but the restaurant has really gone down hill. As one commenter said, you can do better many other places. Come on Johnny, you're better than this.

Our server was great, friendly and attentive. We had an issue with a beer and they resolved it with no stress. Food came out hot, fresh and delicious. In the main area they have an open kitchen so you can see(and smell!) all the delicious food they are creating. The second eating room is larger but it was really loud in there with people laughing and having a good time. I highly suggest the Patty Melt and the Spicy Pepper jack Burger.

I really did not enjoy eating here very much. I came here with a friend and we sat on the patio. We got wings to share and our own burgers. The burgers were nothing special looked and tasted like Costco buns and patties I could have made at home. We mostly came for drinks but when the waited was bringing both of our drinks over he spilled half of the cups on our table. He apologized but didn’t bring us new ones and did not bring us extra napkins to clean our table. We ended up finishing our very average food and our half spilled drinks and left. Wouldn’t come back specially because you can get better burgers for better price somewhere else

This is a welcoming casual burger and beer restaurant - the kind where you may meet with friends after work. The quality of the food excellent. My favorite is the blu cheese burger. They have a broad selection of beer, but not many of the esoteric ones. You can dine inside with very comfortable tables and booths or outside on the sidewalk tables, and also a back patio. They're right on La Mesa Blvd in the heart of the village. Do try this restaurant.

We went for brunch on a Saturday. It was seat yourself, so we chose a table on the back patio, as it was quite noisy inside. It took about 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged that we were there. My husband ordered a steak sandwich, which was flavorful. The sausage and gravy potato skins sounded good, but we're bland. Not much flavor in the gravy. An unfortunate choice. We had been here once before in the past and didn't have a good experience. We came this time because we received a gift card. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Food was fine. Parked around the block at a meter. People sitting in our room area were talking extremely loud. The more beer they drank, the louder they got. The Lemon Drop was not very lemony. On a plus side, the appetizer nachos were a meal to themselves. My BBQ chicken bacon burger was delicious, too.

The burger was fabulous. I will come back again just for that. Fries were good too. I heard their breakfast brunch on Saturday & Sundays is also good. Surprisingly there is a lot more seating inside than you would think in addition to their patio. Great bar seating with lots of TV screens.

i had the jalapeno burger, it was very good the only thing is not a whole lot of sauce and jalapenos but it was over all a great experience and the food was delicious! the waiters were very kind and did check on us and got us refills quite a bit! will for sure come here again!

A co worker of mine took me to lunch the other day so i can't say much about the prices here except for the burger i got was around $13 or so and if i remember correctly, most of their lunch items seemed to average in around that price as well.Dish: grilled chicken sandwichVery tastyWorth $13? If you have it to spend, absolutely!The next thing i feel compelled to share with everyone is this establishments amazingly clean and well stocked bathrooms. I obviously only got to see one of the two they had but that's only because there was someone in the other one... tho if i had to guess id say it was prob a mirror image because both bathrooms were labeled gender neutral and each was equipped with a clean fully functional privacy lock. I can't tell you how much i hate using the restroom when just anyone can walk in at any point and just completely ruin your already sketchy need to have to use the bathroom in public. The bathrooms here alone are almost enough for ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s.Pretty much the only thing that could have turned it around for me would have been either bad food or service, but both were excellent as well! Johnny Bs passed my 20-years-in-the-industry test with flying colors.I would encourage anyone with family or friends, old or young, to come enjoy what Johnny Bs has to offer!

More like a 3.75 but google.Love:Bun toasted properly, fresh beef, the chipotle sauce!Don’t love:Asked for medium rare got close to well done. Not sure if that’s how they cook all their burgers though.Price: $12Rec Level:In general I’m not a fan of places that give you a deconstructed burger (that’s just my preference). However, if that’s your jam or you have a picky eater than this is your place!Tip:Ask for a side of the chipotle sauce, it saved the burger for me! Also bring some coins as it’s only metered parking!

Great view on patio for Thursday car show. Many nice rides! And water bowl for dogs too. Delicious spinach salad with walnuts, filling potato skins with bacon, and burger grilled just right with toasted roll and fries. Tasty strawberry margaritas to relax with and enjoy the views. Come on down next week. They have a live band around the corner too.

Johnny B’s is located on the corner of 4th and La Mesa in the charming village of La Mesa. I think the outside looks a little deceiving where you would think it’s only a bar…but it’s not it’s a wonderful eatery. You may sit inside on the small patio along the sidewalk or covered back patio. Yes, inside and the back patio and have TV’s for those who would like to watch sports. I been going here for decades.
