Service with smile hot and fresh foods every time. The fish-o-burger is my go too. The fish is nice and flaky not fried too hard, the tartar is more on the savory side and the slaw is vinegar based. put them both on the sandwich with 1.5 packets of ketchup and enjoy.

The nostalgia of the South 21 is amazing. I did not grow up in Charlotte but went with someone who did and you could see how it makes people happy. The food was good but I think it's getting a little dated. Not that it's bad. The burger was great. I was expecting a little more out of the onion rings. They didn't seem fresh and I really was looking forward to them. I got the Super Boy since you make sure you order the burger they took time to illustrate on the menu. I want to try more but love the American home town I grew up here feel. Amazing. Please don't ever close!

First time here, not from this area. Food was ok..had superboy, wasn't hot, fries were good not hot either. The hub had chicken, didn't like but loved the slaw.

I recently had a fantastic experience at South 21, a classic drive-in restaurant in Charlotte on Independence Boulevard. Open since 1955, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. The burgers were incredibly fresh, and even the fries were perfect and crispy.The server were so friendly and they remembered me since i have been going there a lot recently hahaha.A true gem for those craving delicious American food with a side of nostalgia.Check out the daily specials !!Not only does South 21 do great in serving fresh and delicious American food, but they also maintain impeccable cleanliness. I had the Fish sandwich, salad & their great vinegar cold slaw. The drive in service is fast & workers all very fast & polite. I have been going to South 21 for more than 40 years with family & friends. My Mom loved the place.

Food is always consistent and delicious. Old school experience at the Independence location with curbside delivery. I love their onion rings and I always order the Superboy.Everyone is polite and friendly. IMO, best place to get a decent burger without al the frills.

As a Charlottean, South 21 is a drive in I have been eating at since I was a young girl! My grandmother ALWAYS took me here. Service and food has not changed a bit! Everything is always fresh and prompt!

The food doesnt look like much when u get it, but dont let that fool u. It's delicious! The onion rings really are the best I've had. Will definitely be returning, maybe add a shake or pie to my next order!

We love going there are family goes there we go out over wages to go to this restaurant The Man who usually is the server is gracious and so polite and goes out of his way to do his job I recommend anyone to go there the food is amazing is just amazing and so if you ever go past it you drive through and get you something to eat especially the jumbo shrimp is delicious

Always go by when I'm in Charlotte. Food is always fresh and hot, service is amazing.The slaw is my favorite! I take home several containers every visit. Great classic car hop drive in.

Surprised at the food this time around. The onion rings were over cooked almost burnt and the burger was just, best I can say, flat. Not great, not bad. Have had other meals at other South 21 and had wonderful food. Thought the original would be at least as good if not better.

A girlfriend and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat while out car shopping one day. It's set up as a drive in. They were very quick with delivering the food. It was excellent. I went with the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and drink. Very yummy! Will definitely be back!

I drive y this place all the time. I’ve always wanted to try the food. Today I finally did. It’s an old fashioned drive in restaurant. I ordered the fish burger. It comes with fries & coleslaw. I got lemonade for a drink. The food came out pretty fast. The fish looked like big fish sticks so that threw me off. I put some tartar sauce on it and took a bite. It was delicious, hot & fresh. The fish was nice and flaky but not overcooked. The fries were crispy and hot. The coleslaw was crunchy and tangy. I put it on the burger and made it that much better. The lemonade was very refreshing. I definitely will be back!

Love Love Love this place I always go to this location because I get the best service. They know who I am on the phone as I make my order they always say see you in ten minutes Renee. The food is Always in point never disappointed by anything from this location. I will continue to go there as often as I can. I grew up coming to this location an the old south Blvd location was where it all started for me as a child. But my daddy worked at the colesium across the street so we always got to come there before we went to the circus or Rodeo or what ever we got to go to that year. South 21 has always been the BEST BURGER PLACE IN CHARLOTTE! ??

A pleasant trip down memory lane for a native Charlottean. I love their fried chicken. However the other day I tried the perch plate-it was SO good. They make their own tartar sauce and vinegar slaw. My husband got the Super Boy. It was so good. Make your soul feel good food! The inside of the place is neat and very clean.Cant wait to go back! Thank you for keeping it nostalgic, affordable, and great!

We went here due to its high rating and close proximity to BoPlex, and it was a good experience! The service was quick, the food was good, and the atmosphere was pleasantly vintage! Would definitely go here again if I'm in the area!

This is an old school drive in built in the 1950s. Outstanding fried sea trout with home made tartar sauce, cole slaw and onion rings! Great southern style burgers and fries.

I have always wanted to stop but today was the first time I did. Seems to be run very good every one was friendly and helpful. The burger was very good but was expecting it to be a little bigger. Definitely will go back but will try something different.

Best Jumbo cheesburger,, fries and chef salad we've had in the area. Staff is friendly, food is plentiful. It's setup like Sonics but you can also order online or drive thru.

For what this place is, which is a drive in fast food, this place is the bomb. Everything is always pretty consistent, my only thing is i wish they'd give you an extra onion ring or two with your burger. Service is always great, real nice people. Support locally if you like fast food, it's worth going!

Old fashioned and delicious! Authentic 1950s drive in with friendly service and fresh, flavorful food. I had the 1/2 chicken plate that came with 4 pieces of chicken, cole slaw, french fries and 2 dinner rolls. The chicken was crispy and fried to perfection. It was so relaxing enjoying the food and watching the beautiful Charlotte sunset. We will most definitely be back! Special thanks to Guy Fieri w/Diners, Drive Ins and Dives for featuring this gem!

We LOVE ? ❤ SOUTH 21 my husband and I have been going there 4 over 34 years. Since 1988 and I as a child went with my parents at age 2 all my siblings and that was 1956 (whoops ?) gave my age haha 6 kids and 2 parents pile up and in a 1956 Chevy we go. So well worth it ? if you have a chance to get there ? ? love ? it .you will never be able to 4get it so hop on thru there njoy

We had to wait a few minutes because we ordered 2 half chicken boxes but it was hot and crispy.Quite honestly I don't like the breading on the chicken. It resembles what you get on fried squash. Vegetable and chicken batter should never be the same.

A Charlotte MUST! I've loved this place since I was a kid!!! Miss the SBlvd location but atleast the 1st and original on independence is still fantastic! They also own BBQ King too which has been around forever and is just as awesome!!

Really great food! Fun drive-in vibe and friendly staff bringing it right to the car!Had really good trout and shrimp, double cheeseburger, and chocolate shake! We've been several times before and we will return!
