Big Basin Burger Bar

We brought the kids and my in-laws to eat lunch after walking around Sanborn Park and they delivered in spades. We ordered the kids burgers right away while we looked over the menu for ourselves and got a few beers. The server even put on Cars 3 for the kids to watch while we ate so we actually got to enjoy our meals. We will be coming back, for sure!

Good food and service.It was uncomfortable chilly inside because of the draft caused by open doors on both sides of the building and working ceiling fans. Chairs could be higher that makes it uncomfortable for non-tall people.

They advertise a great number of beers on tap, but almost ½ were out, including my top 2 picks. The food was average at best for an upscale brew pub. The service was great! I may give it one more try, but there are other good choices in the area.

Hit or miss... sometimes, it's good, but this time it was terrible... ordered take out. I arrived on time to pick up, but food not ready... so waited another 10+ min. Got home, 2 burgers have meat that are charred and taste bitter. For the custom burgers, we paid extra for BBQ sauce but they didn't add any. We requested no parmesan on fries and they still added, etc... list goes on. So a bad one today

Great burgers! I usually get fries but love the onion rings. Absolutely recommend the deviled eggs with bacon. I've had the salads at times and they are also good.

This is the quintessential burger place. It's pricey, but totally worth it. Their burgers are amazing and you can customize. They feature artwork from the local schools, which is really awesome. Good sweet potato fries. Parking in back. Excellent customer service. Inside and outside eating.

Best burgers! We love the build your own burger option, you get exactly what you want and can customize your burger every time. The Bacon Deviled eggs were delicious and the truffle fries were awesome. This is a bar as well, with a great rotating variety of beer and cider selections. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating, they have added a small curbside patio in the back parking lot. The service here is also really great, they bring you water when you sit down and deliver all your food and drinks right to your table,so you can sit back and relax.

The service was exceptional! Super attentive and very fast for everything.However, the burger was a bit bland. I had the peppercorn burger and it didn't pop. I will give this restaurant another try.The beer flight was delicious.

My wife and I had dinner here a few nights ago and the chocolate shakes they make are spectacular! "There ain't no booze in it or nothing''- they must use real love or something? we were disappointed with the burgers. They were extremely dry and could not be eaten. There was not a single condiment on them. Go elsewhere for dinner and there for dessert.

Good burgers and a good variety of types of burgers. Vegetarian options are available as well. I had their veggie patty, it was delicious, however, very soft and messy so plan on eating the veggie with a fork, not on a bun. ?

the atmosphere and service are nice, the menu has attractive options but I have been there at least 5 times and not once has my burger been cooked to temperature I requested. 4 times I requested medium rare and 4 times it was over cooked to at least medium well if not well done. so yesterday I requested rare hoping to get medium rare but it was still closer to medium.this specific detail is very important for a burger joint. cooking the patty correctly is probably the most important part of making a good burger. I can't give more than 3 stars considering this is where they fail.

I honestly have to say that was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life! It was messy, but boy was it worth the cost of napkins. Haha. The French Moo.We have three others in our party and they all said their burgers were excellent as well. And the price was very reasonable given it was in Calistoga.

We used to go here all the time, but haven't been in quite some time. System has changed, no more order your burger with complete customization, now it is wait to be seated and order from a server off the menu. I ordered a Bison burger and I am pretty sure I got a beef burger. Food was good but I miss the order as you want it environment. I suspect it has new ownership but can't say for sure.

Great service, friendly, relaxed, and fun. Fries are fantastic, apps are done well. And here comes the however.....however, burgers are flavorless, over cooked, and rely heavily on added toppings to make the patty edible. Some of the toppings combinations simply don't work.

Really disappointing. The waiter completely ignored our table for half an hour (when it wasn't even busy) and then forgot to put in half our order and never apologized. Burgers were $18 without even fries and were nothing special. Super Duper is better quality for half the price. Would not recommend.

I was very impressed with the teriyaki salmon bowl. Very delicious!Food was brought out pretty quick but the administrative service (bringing out checks or extra boxes for take away, asking to light the heaters took long) but you can tell the waiters and waitresses were HUSTLING TIRELESSLY, but they were super friendly and kind, which was awesome.

Not very impressed from the burgers we got but the food was good overall. 3.5/5They recommend the bison burger med which I went with but what I got was pretty well done. Husband said the turkey burger was just ok (honestly standard for turkey burgers). I do like that they have a half n half fries option and the milkshake was good. Pretty good beer selection, lots of options from the CA area and a good variety of styles. Many of the apps and bowls sounded tasty. Service was fine.I'd try them again if I were in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to have it again

Wonderful burger and fries. I ordered the Blue Cheese burger and the Parmesan Truffle Fries. The burger was perfectly cooked - juicy and tender with the right balance of toppings. The fries were very addictive. I appreciated that they didn’t just pile the cheese and parsley on top but actually incorporated them throughout. To top it all off my server Jacob was awesome! He was friendly and fast. I’ll definitely be back.

I have the happy hour sliders great variety, bacon mushroom lettuce grilled onion and more really well done. Also had salad with grilled salmon on it as the main course oh, I was there for the entire football game so two meals to make it through hahaha.

Bland overpriced food, loud even when not crowded, and uncomfortable chairs. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which tasted like frozen reheated chicken with some hot sauce. Wife said the blue cheese burger was, "just alright." Two stars because the onion rings were tasty.

The website extolled their virtuous organic burger, however, what I discovered were a small cocktail-size patty on a fairly industrial bun and very industrial fixings. The flavor was ok, if over-salted. Was the meat organic? I did not ask because I am not going back. Interesting beers, however, I think they need a better water flush of the lines after cleaning as the off taste in my pint tasted cleaner. Taste testing is strongly advised.

Always happy to come here after hiking in Sanborn CP. Their food is yummy and they have a nice mix of options. I tried the Poke Bowl this last time and was not disappointed! Burgers are always good here though and the milkshakes are phenomenal plus can't go wrong with the beer selection.

Jacob was so awesome! Service was fast and kind. He gave us fun night life suggestions, and had an awesome attitude. We had the bussel sprouts and loved them 5/5. We had the ahí tuna burger 4/5 and a poke bowl 4/5. We ended our meal with a lava cake 4/5. Everything met expectations and we will be coming back!

So I’m a little torn about this review because the service was very good - they were attentive, friendly, and patient with us. The garlic parm fries were very good (but could use more parm). My main gripe was the freezer burnt ciabatta roll that came with the Turkey burger. It was most definitely reheated and crumbly but not in a good way. My advice would be to eliminate the ciabatta roll altogether and just serve the burger on the brioche bun (assuming this is a more popular, more frequently used, fresher option). Eliminate the frozen roll and your food game will improve. Drink selection was good - the pear cider was pretty delicious.Lastly, your burgers…don’t come with…fries? For an $18 burger throw some fries on there. In-N-Out doesn’t serve bison burgers but dang they make a fire burger for less than $4.

Wonderful place to enjoy good food and good vibes. The service is excellent, the waiters are always nice and kind. One time they made a mistake with my order and they gave us the dessert for free and apologized. It's definitely a place to come back to.Just noticed that some of my pictures were from the monthly special menu, so they don't always exist (the salmon burger and the tiramisu cake).
